Their name says it all. They want to craft the culture. Crafted Culture Brewing founder Anthony “Sizzle” Perry joins Nick & Nigel for Act 25. Opening Monday, Feb. 1, Crafted Culture Brewing is set to become the first black owned brewery in Central Ohio. We talk about his struggles opening a brewery and his goal of reaching neglected craft beer consumers. There’s also lots of funny moments in this episode.
Transparent Brewing supplied our drinking beer — Encore Coffee Brown Ale with Lactose. Mystery beers included: Prairie OKC's 14% BBA Nigerian Prince Imperial Stout with Peanut Butter roasted coffee; Orange Lasse from Crane Brewing and Meli Kalikimaka Spiced Winter Ale from Kros Strain Brewing. We may have poured some Bourbon from FEW as well. But that could just be a rumor.

2020 was quite the year. Never mind that pandemic thing — it's the year we started the BeersWithNigel podcast! In Act 24 we take a look back at some of our favorite guests, topics and beers. Nigel shares his Untappd Year in Beer results. He might have had a few last year. The man who’s always mentioned but never seen; Junior! Finally reveals himself on the pod. Nick thought was a good idea to start the show with the 12% Bourbon Barrel Quad from Boulevard Brewing. Transparent Brewing gifted us a crowler of their lovely Hidden Monster Scottish Export. It’s Act 23 of #BeersWithNigel and we've gone international again! Joining us from the UK is Stacey Ayeh, of Rock Leopard Brewing Co. in London, England. Stacey is a veteran in the alcohol biz and started Rock Leopard to give his interpretation of the beers he loves. We talk about the obstacles he faced getting into the beer business and the London beer scene. Stacey was prepared for the pod, shipping two of his beers across the pond for Nigel and Nick to sip on during the show. We had Rock Leopard’s Paper, Scissors NEIPA and Are We Human Or Are We Chancer?, a session NEIPA.

The Kansas City area brewery scene is growing! Especially on the east side of the city. This episode features two breweries opening in the early part of 2021. Nigel and Nick talk to Brad Steele, who’s opening Broken Hatchet Brewing, and Jeremy Kneeland, Jeff Gray, and Dave Querner, the guys behind the The Goat Brewing Company. We talk about opening a brewery during a pandemic and how they all got started. We drink beers from both breweries plus beer from Saugatuck Brewing and Sun King Brewing.

Nick & I "sipped" on the 12% Bless Your Heart Imperial Stout from Roughtail Brewing, while Pat imbibed on Lively Brewing’s Passion Fruit Tart. Brett Wooderson is an award winning home brewer, known for making some pretty crazy but balanced home-brews.
